The Bookcase is one of many functions and features included in the Bibliocraft mod.

Its basic purpose is for storage and decoration. If you're looking for a quick way to put away some books you wrote or some enchantment books you found, the bookcase is the answer.

There are four different flavors of Bookcases: Oak, Spruce, Birch and Jungle. They can be used as fuel sources.

Bookcases have 16 slots in which to store books. Each slot can hold either one written book, or up to a full stack of 64 normal books. One bookcase can hold a maximum of 1024 normal books. A bookcase cannot store the Necronomicon or the Chocopedia.

Bookcases also increase an enchanting table's level per book stored when the bookcases are placed around the enchanting table like bookshelves. Each filled slot in a bookcase adds 0.25 to an enchanting table's available level, up to a maximum of 4.0 levels per bookcase. For comparison, a bookshelf will add 2.0 levels to an enchanting table's level, and is constructed using three books, with each book yielding 2/3 of a level. Stacking normal books in a bookcase will not yield extra levels.

RestrictionsEdit

This mod only supports the vanilla wood varieties (Oak, Birch, Spruce, and Jungle).

Other UsesEdit

The Bookcase will also provide a Redstone signal if a Redstone Book is placed on the shelf. The power of the Redstone signal produced correlates directly with the location of the book on a scale of 0-15. Placing the Redstone Book in the upper-left corner of the shelf produces Redstone Signal 0 (off). Placing it in the second slot from the left of the upper shelf produces Redstone Signal strength 1. Third slot is Redstone signal strength 2, and so-forth. Placing the book on the bottom-right shelf produces the maximum Redstone signal strength of 15.

BugsEdit

  • Cannot be mined with tinkers construct tools.
  • Items renamed to have the word "book" in the title are able to be placed in the bookcase (confirmation needed).
